#monthlyquote August

Here’s to all the Moms, Grandmas and Dads who love taking their pictures at family get-togethers. To all the aunts with their recently acquired smartphones. It is an unwritten rule. Everybody should know it by heart but hardly anyone does. It’s a mistake made by many people in the world and the result is always the same.

Never photograph people eating. Just DON’T do it.

Again this is not an actual quote although I really hope someone once said it to put an end to it. In case you ever wondered why a professional photograph does never take pictures while people are eating… he just wouldn’t dare. At least I’ve never heard anyone say „Oh, what a pity! I was hoping to find a hilariously unflattering picture of me chewing my Rib Eye Steak.“ It’s actually very interesting that even the most beautiful people in the world are kind of ‘ugly’ while they’re munching away on some food.

“Photography is not a sport. It has no rules. Everything must be dared and tried!“
– British photographer and photojournalist Bill Brandt

Oh and they did. They dared and tried like real professionals. Maybe that’s what he wanted to tell us after all:“Try it yourself if you don’t believe me!“

Here are a few pictures which back me up on this argument:

For me there’s only one thing left to say:
